On June 19, the Yunhai 330 kV substation project entered into the final stages of acceptance and debugging. Upon its completion by the end of June, it is expected to promote new energy consumption in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, further supporting the low-carbon green development of Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
Ningdong Base is located in a prime solar radiation area of China, receiving over 3,000 hours of sunlight annually.
In order to meet the rapidly growing load demand of the area and further increase the power supply capacity, the Yunhai 330 kV substation was started in April 2023, with a total investment of about 437 million yuan ($68.18 million).
Once put into operation, the Yunhai 330 kV substation will effectively promote the local consumption of electricity generated by photovoltaics and other new energy sources, enabling larger-scale consumption of new energy in the Ningdong Base.
To ensure the scheduled operation of the Yunhai 330 kV substation, the State Grid Ningdong Electric Power Supply Company applied innovative construction methods throughout the project with extensive use of factory-made prefabricated components, which not only lowered construction risks but also enhanced the substation's construction quality. In April this year, the construction of the new Yunhai 330 kV substation was recognized as a "safe site" by the State Grid Corporation due to its excellent safety management.
Going forward, the State Grid Ningdong Electric Power Supply Company will further ensure regional power supply and grid safety, supporting Ningdong Base in achieving green development with photovoltaic hydrogen production and injecting continuous green energy in the Ningdong area.
