Wuzhong, a city located in the middle of Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, was a bustling city on the ancient Silk Road. People exchanged their local foods here and soon developed a way to boil those ingredients with green tea, making Eight-Treasures Tea (babao cha in Chinese) a traditional drink.
Besides an intangible cultural heritage, Eight Treasure Tea is viewed more as a representation of unity among all ethnic groups in Ningxia.
