The 27th Chinese (Ningxia) medical team in Benin presented a unique and heartfelt gift to the children of Natitingou on Nov 20, designated World Children's Day by the United Nations.
The team organized a free clinic to screen for congenital heart disease and malnutrition, two major challenges that have long hindered the healthy growth of local children.
In addition to medical screenings, professionals taught the children the "seven-step handwashing method", emphasizing the importance of proper hand hygiene as a crucial defense against disease.
Following the clinic, the team distributed gifts to the children, including beautiful school supplies. The Chinese chef accompanying the medical team introduced the children to Chinese cuisine by preparing delicious steamed buns.
In a heartwarming cultural exchange, team members and Beninese children created paintings. Through imaginative art, they expressed their dreams for the future and their understanding of China-Africa friendship.
"We have traveled far from our homeland to this land that needs us, with the mission of sharing China's medical expertise and compassion with the people here. What we are planting is not only the seeds of health but also the seeds of friendship. We hope these children will grow strong with our blessings and care and that the bond between China and Africa will become even more unbreakable and enduring through such exchanges," said medical team members.
