Yinchuan's wine industry achieved remarkable growth in 2024, with its comprehensive output value soaring to 36 billion yuan ($4.91 billion), a 20 percent increase from the previous year, According to local authorities.
By the end of 2024, Yinchuan had established a robust wine grape cultivation base covering 273,000 mu (18,200 hectares) and was home to 81 wineries.
This impressive performance is largely attributed to a series of strategic measures implemented by the authorities. These included launching 37 projects to integrate wine with cultural tourism, enhance grape cultivation, construct new and expand existing wineries, and improve industry-related infrastructure.
These initiatives have created multifaceted facilities such as Manpu Town and Huaiyuan Wine Street, which offer a blend of wine experiences, artistic creation, sports, and leisure activities.
Yinchuan wine region has capitalized on its vineyards' carbon sequestration potential by employing a smart vineyard information system. This system has enabled the implementation of precision irrigation techniques, which reduce energy consumption and enhance efficiency.
Developing new grape planting bases and protective forest belts has transformed barren gravel and desert areas into vibrant new oases, showcasing a sustainable development model that harmonizes ecological and economic benefits.
This year, Yinchuan plans to build and expand wineries, boost brand awareness, extend the industrial chain, and further integrate cultural tourism. It is also preparing to host over 30 key projects, including the 32nd Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and initiatives to manage desertification in the Helan Mountain area.
