Yinchuan in Ningxia saw its digital economy exceed 110 billion yuan ($15.17 billion) in total value in 2024, according to official statistics.
The city's growth was driven by a strategic focus on three key areas: intelligent computing, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing.
One of the standout digital applications was demonstrated on Feb 16 at Ningxia Kaitian Gas Development Co, where an employee showcased the AI Gas Manager. Through intelligent monitoring and warning systems, the company has achieved the smart management of gas safety.
Another highlight is Xinghan Intelligent Technology (Ningxia) Co. Last June, the company's intelligent manufacturing production line went into operation, releasing the first set of Tukun-series servers and filling the gap in the intelligent manufacturing of high-end computers in Ningxia.
"On the 'I Find a Car' digital logistics platform, enterprises, cargo owners, logistics companies, brokers, vehicle owners, drivers, and consignees can share information, reducing business control risks and increasing profits," said Lin Kai, deputy chief engineer of digitalization at Ningxia Building Materials Group Co.
Lin added that the platform's business covers 31 provinces nationwide, with 1.86 million registered vehicles and a cumulative transport volume of 1.89 billion metric tons.
Yinchuan is also making significant strides in artificial intelligence applications, establishing a national AI innovation application pilot zone and a national AI application base for the medical industry. It is accelerating industry transformation and improving public services through artificial intelligence.
In addition, Yinchuan is developing its computing power infrastructure. Projects like the Kaitian Intelligent Computing Center and Tianyun Intelligent Computing Center are progressing rapidly, while the China Mobile Intelligent Computing Center has been completed and put into operation.
The city has also completed the cross-adaptation of four large models with domestic GPU chips from Huawei Ascend, Moore Threads, Cambricon, and MetaX.
Furthermore, Yinchuan will promote the "Artificial Intelligence+" initiative, strengthening AI application scenarios and forming a batch of typical, innovative, and leading demonstration application scenarios.
Meanwhile, the city will plan to build a regional center for the market-oriented allocation of data elements, developing the first data market circulation system in the region and creating a data element trading demonstration area with regional characteristics.
