Under the guidance of science and technology commissioner Zhang Cunzhi, the Yuanshi Wineyard in Xixia district, Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, has transformed its waste grape pomace and wine lees.

Through mixed fermentation, the wineyard has produced over 500 metric tons of bio-bacterial fertilizer. These effectively improve soil pH and compaction issues, leading to an additional 300,000 yuan ($41,730) in profits for the winery.

Achievements such as this have given the wine industry in Xixia district a reputation for high quality and efficiency.

As a corporate sci-tech commissioner, the Chateau Baoshi has relied on the project of introduction and demonstration promotion of high-efficiency water and fertilizer management technology for wine grapes.

The wineyard introduced sci-tech achievements from Ningxia University and innovatively integrated a water-fertilizer drip irrigation system. This system has reduced water and fertilizer usage for varieties such as Marselan and Cabernet Sauvignon by 25 percent, attracted more than 100 visitors for observation and learning, and provided 13 nearby households with employment.
