Massive donation for National Art Museum of China

The National Art Museum of China received a huge donation of 100 million yuan ($13.93 million) from an entrepreneur couple in Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

The generous donation was announced at a ceremony at the Beijing museum on Sunday and was witnessed by administrative officials of various museums and cultural institutions in the capital, as well as media representatives and visitors from across the country. The funds came from the Yan Bao Charity Foundation, established by Dang Yanbao and Bian Haiyan.

Pan Yikui, the director of National Art Museum, said social support of this type has been of vital importance for world-class art museums to raise their profile, and the generous deed will further facilitate the museum to benefit the public with fine arts and improved services.

Opened in 1963, the National Art Museum has assembled a collection of over 130,000 works of art, by a lineup of home and international artists.
