Red forest beckons in Ningxia

chinadaily.com.cn|Updated:October 21, 2021

Beiwudang Mountain in Shizuishan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, is decorated with a sea of red leaves in October. In early morning or in full sunshine at midday, the leaves look like flying flames stretching out for miles. Shizuishan is rich in coal resources.

The mountain had been barren and deserted in the past, but after years of greening work, it has become an ecological tourism attraction with a geological park and numerous forest areas. The survival rate of trees there reached more than 93.8 percent.
