My name is Wei Xiaoming. I'm a general manager of Ningxia Xiaoming Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Co Ltd.
Thirty years ago, the company was just a family farm, and I was teaching in the School of Agriculture of Ningxia University. Over the last three decades, all I have been doing is trying to breed the best chickens.
Despite the high risks in the breeding industry, we have embarked on a unique path of desert breeding to reduce infectious diseases in breeding hens.
Since 2006, I have led the team to build the largest base of egg breeders at Minning town and Qingtongxia in Ningxia and the largest incubation base in Northwest China. We also established a technology R&D center, which helped purify the breeding places and create a biological safety system for livestock and poultry breeding.
I also found a more scientific way to breed chickens. We provided a comfortable place for chickens with high-quality air, clean water, safe feed and suitable temperature and humidity. At the same time, we also made the chickens play and breed naturally, which greatly affected their growth.

I experienced countless setbacks and failures from 1992 to 2022, but I chose to persevere for 30 years.
Now, the number of high-quality and healthy hens we provide every year has reached 170 million, a market share of about 15 percent in China. In other words, one out of every seven eggs in the country comes from here.
I think that everyone has to experience ups and downs after starting a business. The key is to take root in the industry and production process, and learn to persevere when faced with frustration and temptation.
The labor medal is not only for me, but for the whole industry. I will continue to carry forward the labor spirit, which is my inspiration and responsibility.
