On December 2, the first China (Macao) High-quality Consumption Exhibition and the main forum of the Hengqin Global Bay Areas Forum kicked off in the Venetian Macao. 21 wineries from the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain, Ningxia, attended the forum to share their fine wines.
"The first China (Macao) High-quality Consumption Exhibition is a platform to gather high-quality enterprises from all over the world. The wine industry park at the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain, Ningxia, has organized for Ningxia wineries to participate in the event, with one purpose - to closely follow the diversified needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote the wine from the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain.” said a representative of the management committee of the wine industry park at the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia.
There are 21 wineries in total attending the exhibition, displaying almost all of the wine products of Ningxia. The products come from world-famous wine producers Hennessy, Helan Red Wine Winery, Xige Estate, Chateau Jade Copower and other wineries. The local advantages of the high-quality wines and brands in the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia were highlighted.
Ningxia has unique conditions to develop its wine industry. Its wine producing area is rich in soil minerals, has sufficient light and heat, a huge temperature difference between day and night, and a dry climate. The cultivated grapes have a unique aroma, good pigment formation and taste.
Since 2020, "the wine from the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain" has been listed in the Sino-European Agreement on Geographical Indications, and the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO) has awarded Ningxia the title of "Global Wine Tourism Destination". The brand value of "wine from the eastern foothills of Helan Mountain" is worth about 30 billion yuan (about $4.3 billion), ranking ninth on the national list of regional brands of geographical indication products. Ningxia wine has won more than 1,100 awards in top international wine competitions, accounting for over 60% of the total awards nationwide.
Macao is an international city with great potential in the wine market and a diversified consumer demand, while Ningxia is recognized as one of the world's most suitable places and a gold belt for planting wine grapes and producing high-end wine. Ningxia hopes to rely on the market advantages and consumption potential of Macao, and the construction of two "national brands" platforms - the Ningxia National Grape and Wine Industry Open Development Comprehensive Pilot Zone and the China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture Tourism Expo - to seek a broader international market.
