Ningxia to build remote sensing application platform serving BRI countries

The Ningxia Meteorological Bureau will build this year a remote sensing application platform with the support of the National Satellite Meteorological Center to provide meteorological services to countries along the Belt and Road.

The sixth China-Arab States Expo will set up the Forum on High-quality Meteorological Development as an independent section for the first time, and the Ningxia meteorological department will actively participate in it to help China use Fengyun meteorological satellites and the Beijing World Meteorological Center to support disaster prevention and mitigation and green innovation in Arab countries.

In recent years, Ningxia's meteorology services have achieved remarkable results. At present, Ningxia has established the beginning of a three-dimensional monitoring network for land, air and space, as well as refined and intelligent grid forecast services ranging from minutes to seasons and years, and the accuracy of meteorological forecasting has steadily improved.

In 2022, Ningxia ranked second in the country in comprehensive climate prediction and first in precipitation prediction. The accuracy of sunny and rainy forecasts reached 91.3 percent, ranking sixth in the country.

In addition, Ningxia established a "green channel" for the release of meteorological warning information via text message for the first time in 2022, which effectively responded to several extreme and catastrophic weather events such as torrential rain, achieving "zero casualties".
